Boring Ole Monday

Monday, February 8, 2016

This Monday wasn't much more interesting than last Monday with laundry and homework ruling the day.

However, Tyson and I did go on one little adventure.  Jacob wanted to stay home, which meant that we had to leave the house key home with him.  Although our door has a dead bolt, it doesn't work and you have to use the funny key to lock yourself in.  When we get home, we have to ring the doorbell outside on the steps, then Jacob has to unlock the door with the key and come down 1 flight of stairs to let us in the common door.

The middle lock doesn't do anything, so the only way to lock the door
is to use the funny key (below), and turn it 4 times to lock the bolt.
Then you just leave the key in the door until you leave again.

Since Tyson's birthday is tomorrow, we thought it would be fun to go shopping.  The Kendalls told us about a fun open market they found.  It sounded like the perfect place to go look for a birthday present.  Oops!  It's Monday.  Silly us.  It was closed.  But it wasn't all a waste of time.  We noticed a store next to it that had a constant stream of people going in and out.  The store was called Maxima and it was actually a fairly decent sized grocery store.  After a weekend of being out of town, we needed some groceries.  I even let Tyson choose his birthday dinner.  Roast and potatoes.  Surprise.
Maxima is the black door in the bottom middle of the picture.
Pretty fancy building for a grocery store! The "open
market" is in the black building to the right.

The yummy part of our dinner.  For the other part, Tyson chose to try squid sticks -
yes, fish sticks made from 100% squid according to the label.
Tyson had the most.  At least he thought they were good.

Today's doorway find.
