Last night we fell asleep to steady, heavy rainfall. The windows in our bedroom are on a slant, so we could hear it falling and it was quite lulling. We very much enjoyed it - until we woke up and it was still raining pretty hard. We spent the morning indoors doing school, but then decided we needed to get out and see the city regardless of the rain. Tyson was especially anxious to see things since it was dark when we drove in with him last night. And we decided dealing with rain was better than dealing with freezing cold!
The Kendalls weren't answering their phone, so after dropping off our garbage, which is along the route to the Kendall's flat, we stopped by their place to see if they wanted to play. Christianne wasn't feeling well, but Braeden and Maya came with us. We tried to go to the Italian restaurant we had gone to last year for Tyson's birthday, but it was closed. That's the second restaurant we liked last year that has now closed. The other one that has closed is the restaurant with the tree in it. Only half of our group had been at Zoe's the other night, so we ended back there as it was in the area. Jacob absolutely loves their Swedish meatballs and Tyson was happy to find a BLT on the menu, so all was well.
But our real destination goal was the Energy and Transportation Museum because the boys really wanted to revisit...

They had as much fun there this time as before. There is just something so fun about all of the buttons and knobs they can push and pull. After looking around, Sarah and I had about an hour to kill while they played through their army command center adventure. We basically had the place to ourselves, so their game took them around to other floors. They had a blast.

Next to the museum is this beauty - from the sign on it, I think it's the Italian Embassy.
We have to cross a bridge over the Neris River for the museum and can get a great shot of the Gediminos Castle, the most we'll see of it this trip. The white plastic appears to be where some of that renovation/preservation is taking place. Here is the same picture cropped so you can see the details better:
But the place Tyson was most anxious to revisit was Sopranos where we can get crepes and gelato. With the cold rain, it was definitely a night for crepes.

But sometimes you've got to try something new. How about hot chocolate with a scoop of ice cream. Their hot chocolate is more like ganache. It's really thick, so mixed with ice cream it's basically a delicious chocolate shake.
We walked home as it was getting dark and it made the sky a beautiful deep blue. The quaint streets lit by lamp posts were spectacular!

Tyson was looking bleary-eyed as we sat in Sopranos. Here he is about 10 minutes after we walked through the door (about 6:45 pm).
Sorry you have to deal with jet lag for the next week kiddo!
